Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. The past year wasn’t easy, but generally the government managed to cope efficiently with economic difficulties, said Russian President Vladimir Putin during the closing meeting with members of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Putin put special emphasis on the existing economic situation in the country.
“We need to keep everything under control. If needed – although some may despise it which is critically important in the current situation – so to speak, we’ll have to switch to manual control. It’s nothing wrong in the current situation,” he said.
Putin instructed the government to focus on fulfilling social responsibilities and solve issues about supporting the Ruble, noting that the Central Bank is more responsible for the rate of the national currency.
“However, it’s unlikely that the Central Bank could fulfill this responsibility without a relevant coordination with the government’s financial-economic bloc,” the president stressed.
The head of state said economic difficulties are linked not only with external factors.
“These difficulties are related not only with sanctions or the objective international conjuncture, but also with what we have failed to do together for years,” he noted.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev agreed on president’s opinions that the country has a lot of domestic problems. He noted in 2015 the government will focus on solving these problems. Expressing his gratitude the president, on his own and on behalf of the ministers Medvedev congratulated Putin on the occasion of the New Year.
Medvedev said “I would like to thank you for your trust and offer to drink a glass of champagne”. "Good suggestion, thanks!" - Putin said in response.
