At the briefing, attended by 1,250 journalists, Putin spoke about the current economic situation in the country.
The Russian president touched upon the current state of the financial market, noting that the current economic situation is provoked first of all by external factors. He also said that the Russian economy needs diversification.
The president did not rule out that the financial-economic crisis would last for the next two years.
He said measures undertaken by the Central Bank are adequate, adding that the country’s economy is not dependent on these measures alone.
“I feel optimistic that our economy will adapt to lower prices of energy carriers. The total structuring of economy will occur. This is inevitable,” he stressed.
