Baku – APA. “For the time being there is no need to deploy troops in Crimea, but there is such an opportunity,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the press conference in Moscow, APA reports.
Putin said army could be used in the very nick of time.
“But the legitimate president of Ukraine has appealed to us for military assistance. Now we are witnessing neo-Nazis, nationalists’ actions in Ukraine. But the deployment of troops is the last step,” he said.
Russian President said provocative forces fired at the protesters in Maidan. Noting that Berkut special-task forces were also fired at, Putin said Yanukovych made a mistake when he withdrew security agencies from Kiev.
“He called me and gave information about it. I told him that security agencies should not be withdrawn from Kiev, it will cause chaos. But he did not listen to me,” he underlined.
