Baku – APA. A protest against gas price rise has been held outside the embassy of Russia in Yerevan, APA reports. The protestors held posters such as “Russia, go away from Armenia!”, “Gazprom, go away from Armenia!”.
The demonstrators handed a letter to the ambassador, which asks the embassy to interfere in delaying the discussion of gas prices by the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
Former presidential candidate Arkady Ghoukasian said that they appealed to the ambassador, because Gazprom is the state-owned enterprise.
Head of Armtoday news website Argishti Kiviryan said that the question is not the struggle against rise in natural gas price: “The question is about taking into account the attitude of the strategic partner to Armenia in any issue. This is not the first case. For years Russia has been taking such steps to weaken Armenia. Suffice it to mention the “Compatriots” programme. Russia is constantly providing Azerbaijan with weapons, with which Armenia is at the state of war. Allies don’t treat to each other so.”
