Baku-APA. Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko said on Tuesday he was committed to peace settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS.

“I am still committed to peace settlement in Donbass, under my peace plan and the Minsk agreements,” he said in an address to the nation. “I have always done and will always be doing everything possible for that. And even impossible.”

Nonetheless, he said he planned to sign another mobilization decree on Wednesday. “I am confident that the Ukrainian people will support this decision, and the mobilization campaign will be successful.”

According to a daily update from the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe /OSCE/, a considerable increase in the number of violations of truce was reported from the vicinity of Donetsk on January 10-11.

Head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko said that despite the Ukrainian authorities’ statements about their commitment to the Minsk agreements, shelling from the Ukrainian side continued. He said that towns of Gorlovka, Dokuchayevsk, Yelenovka and other settlements were coming under artillery fire.

Zakharchenko stressed that the Donetsk militias used force only to defend themselves. “Militias opened retaliatory fire only at those positions of the Ukrainian armed forces that had fired at us. Militias destroyed those artillery weapons and mortar batteries that had shelled Donetsk,” he said.
