Nursultan Nazarbayev: Kazakhs should draw lesson from Ukrainian crisis
# 25 December 2014 11:30 (UTC +04:00)

This was stated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev during the national teleconference in Astana, APA reports citing Kazakh media.

N. Nazarbayev related the Ukrainian events to instability and misunderstanding within the society, adding that plants and factories therein are shut down, and business life is going to collapse: “Do you really think an ordinary man takes up a spade and go to fight? Not at all. It’s the politicians that are sending them to commit fratricide. These politicians must be stopped from weeping for democracy”.

N. Nazarbayev said he had gone to Ukraine for help, noting that he doesn’t seek any dividends from this trip.

“When people get killed, working turns into something non-sense. What were 5,000 people killed for? What ideals did they fight for? It won’t be easy to heal these wounds. We’re familiar with Ukraine. I invite the country’s leaders to look for a compromise at the common table,” he added.

The president said the Kazakh people will draw necessary conclusions from these events.

“We have achieved what we have in an atmosphere of stability and mutual understanding. Let’s evaluate and save it. If there are those who want to destroy all, our forces will have to answer them. That is, the principle of “the economy first, then politics” has always worked and will work. Without understanding there is no future. We all saw it. Kazakhs should appreciate this simple truth,” Nazarbayev completed.
