Leader of Crimean Tatars received at NATO

Baku – APA. Leader of Crimean Tatars, Member of Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Mustafa Abduljemil Krimoglu has today been received at the NATO’s headquarters in Brussels. APA reports quoting Ukrainskaya Pravda website that Krimoglu has met with the NATO US Deputy Secretary General, US Former ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow and ambassadors of 28 member states to NATO.

After meeting, Krimoglu told journalists that war with Ukraine will cause collapse of Russia: “Current situation in Crimea is the crazy attempt of Russia. This is not in favor of Crimean Tatars, or Ukraine and will not favor Russia, either. War with Ukraine will be the beginning of the end for Russia and cause its collapse. However, this is dangerous. The talk is about the collapse of nuclear state”.

Krimoglu noted that Crimean Tatars want the UN peacekeepers to be deployed in the peninsula. He also said it requires the decision of the UN Security Council and Russia will certainly veto such a decision: “However, in any case this procedure should be started”.

The leader of Crimean Tatars said he hoped for more active reaction of the West.

"The UN or NATO use force, when there is much bloodshed. We would like them to use force before bloodshed. This is the problem. We have been told that it will cost Russia high if it does not respect Ukraine's territorial integrity. What if Russia is ready to pay the cost and occupies our territory against all odds? I can not get an answer for this question," he said.

Abduljemil Krimoglu called on NATO representatives and European diplomats not to take into account the results of the referendum in Crimea.

"This does not depend on the voter turnout or will of the voters, it depends on the wish of those deploying troops in our territories and the results are known beforehand. Holding such a referendum in the state of military occupation runs contrary to the democratic norms," he said.
