Baku-APA. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Friday hailed a UN resolution affirming the international community's commitment to the country's territorial integrity, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The resolution reaffirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and rebuffs any illegal attempts to change the boundaries of Ukraine," the ministry's press service said in a statement.

Kiev regrets that Moscow has voted against the document that is "entirely based on the U.N. Charter," the statement said.

On Thursday, the 193-member UN General Assembly adopted the resolution which does not recognize Crimea's absorption by Russia with 100 votes in favor, 11 votes against and 58 abstentions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Crimean leaders signed a treaty on March 18 to make the Crimean peninsula part of Russian territory following a referendum, during which around 97 percent of the Crimean voters backed splitting from Ukraine.
