CIS Heads of State Council's session kicks off in Kazakhstan - UPDATED

The session is attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Deputy Foreign and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Galbur, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Satlyk Satlykov, temporary charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Kazakhstan Yuri Lazebnik and Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev.

The session of the CIS Heads of State council will focus on the documents dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UN and the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

Special attention will be paid to the issues of cooperation in the security sphere. The Heads of State will sign several international agreements in the law-enforcement sphere and in the sphere of liquidation of the consequences of the emergency situations.

The concept of military cooperation for 2020 will be adopted at the session as well as the program of cooperation in strengthening of the border security for 2016-2020 and some other documents.

The Heads of State will also attach special attention to future humanitarian cooperation. In particular, the participants are expected to discuss the implementation of the intergovernmental program titled "Cultural capital cities of the CIS". The city of Dashoguz is planned to be announced the cultural capital city of the CIS in 2016 at the session today.

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. A session of the CIS Heads of State Council will be held today in Burabay, Akmola province, Kazakhstan.

The session will focus on draft documents related to the upcoming important dates - the 70th anniversary of the UN and the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. In addition, the heads of state will approve the documents regulating cooperation in the field of migration, the fight against crime, culture, emergency management, border security. The meeting will also discuss development of cooperation in the military sphere.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Kazakhstan to attend the session.
