APA reports that Karimov was buried in the Shah-i-Zinda cemetery next to his parents.
Several thousands of people, as well as foreign delegations said their last farewell to Islam Karimov.
Azerbaijani delegation led by speaker of parliament Ogtay Asadov has also attended the funeral.
The government announced the ruler's death Friday, ending days of speculation about whether Karimov was still alive following a massive stroke.
Three-day mourning has been declared in Uzbekistan over Karimov’s death.
Islam Abdulgani Karimov was born in 1938 in Samarkand. He governed Uzbekistan since 1989.
