IS militants planned series of terrorist attacks in Tajikistan in month of Ramadan â€“ Interior Ministry

Baku. Faig Mahmudov - APA. Islamic State (IS) militants planned to commit a series of terrorist attacks in Tajikistan in the month of Ramadan.

Officers of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan detained Dushanbe resident Rajabali Babajan, born in 1990, who was suspected of committing a series of terrorist attacks.

Babajan posted on one of the social networks that he was acquainted with a Tajik citizen fighting with IS militants in Syria and promised to obey his orders unconditionally. During the interrogation, he said that he planned to blow up 10 police departments in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry also stated that Babajan planned to commit three explosions in Kulob, Dushanbe, Fayzabad and Garma within a day.

During the operation, 39-year-old Sadrettin Radjabov was arrested as well. He was Babajan’s assistant and planned to leave for Syria to fight within the “Islamic State” terrorist group.
