OMON detained around 50 Azerbaijani citizens in Moscow

Moscow . Farid Akbarov - APA. Around 50 citizens of Azerbaijan were detained in the West District of the Russian capital. Azerbaijanis, detained by the OMON (Special Purpose Mobile Unit), were taken to Ochakovo- Matveevsky district Police Department of Moscow.

According to information got by APA’s Moscow bureau, the arrested people are workers from the car service center. OMON have taken all immigrants to the police station after the raid to the car service center. At the moment, the police check possible involvement of the detained citizens of Azerbaijan to various crimes and their registration documents.

The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation, Colonel Eldar Samedov said APA’s Moscow correspondent that the raids, carried out by Russian law enforcement bodies against migrants, comply with the legislation of the country : "The work of the police is to conduct raids. All migrants are being checked. Measures are taken against persons, whose papers are not in order. Persons, who have all the documents in order, are released. They also check the involvement of migrants in this or other crimes."

Executive Director of All-Russia Azerbaijani Congress Ilgar Hajiyev told APA’s Moscow bureau correspondent that the organization took an interest in detained Azerbaijani citizens: “They have taken to Otchakovsky - Matveevsky Police department”.

Hajiyev said that detained Azerbaijani citizens are provided with comprehensive legal assistance by All-Russia Azerbaijani Congress: "In order to provide legal assistance to our compatriots, the operational headquarters of experienced lawyers have been created at the central office of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress. A hot line (+7 4953637594) functions at the headquarters. Azerbaijanis, living in Russia, can appeal to the headquarters of All-Russia Azerbaijani Congress for obtaining legal aid and advice by using the hotline.
