The inauguration of Donald Trump, scheduled for January 20, makes one hopeful the crisis in Russian-US relations will be overcome, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing on Thursday, APA reports citing TASS.
"Tomorrow, on January 20, the United States’ new president, Donald Trump, will be inaugurated and this makes one hopeful that the crisis into which the Russian-US relations were plunged by the previous Barack Obama team will be overcome," Zakharova said.
The team of US outgoing president Barack Obama continues delivering blows at the foundation of the Russian-US ties even in the last hours of its rule, Zakharova said.
"The outgoing democratic team has deliberately ruined bilateral ties to the Cold War condition," Zakharova told reporters. "Even in the last hours it keeps delivering blows at their foundation."
