Deputy chief of Armenian police: White arms found in demonstratorsâ€™ possession

The Deputy Chief of Police of Armenia, Hunan Poghosyan, told about the aforementioned to reporters, APA reports quoting news.am.

“In addition to the visible work, the Police conduct invisible work,” said Poghosyan. “As a result of yesterday’s invisible work, awls, and knives were found in people’s possession, which could have been used against both the demonstrators and the police.”

The protestors are at Baghramian Avenue for well over the past fifteen hours.

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks expressed serious concern about the use of force applied by the police to disperse peaceful protesters in Yerevan on Tuesday.

“The information I have received about instances of violence against journalists, their detention and damaging their equipment is also very disturbing. The media should be able to work in a safe and free environment,” the statement reads.
