CSTO secretary general: Any war in Karabakh and Transnistria will last for long time and cause great bloodshed

Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) cannot intervene in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the organization’s Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said at a briefing on Thursday.

According to him, there is an international mechanism for the settlement of the conflict:

“A number of international organizations gave their authority to the OSCE Minsk Group regarding the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Others should not intervene in this process. Only the OSCE Minsk Group is dealing with the conflict’s settlement. The CSTO supports its activities. Therefore, the CSTO can not intervene in the conflict resolution,” he added.

Bordyuzha said Armenia is a full member of the CSTO, noting that in case of a threat to this country, the organization will enjoy all its rights.

Bordyuzha said there is no military solution to the conflicts in the CIS region.

“There is no military solution to either Karabakh or Transnistria conflict. If a war breaks out in the region it will last for a long time and cause great bloodshed. Russia saw it at the example of its neighbor Ukraine”, noted the CSTO secretary general.
