Makhachev was killed in a multiple collision in Moscow's Kutuzovsky Prospekt /Avenue/ involving five cars on Thursday evening. In all, three people were killed and another six were injured.
"Dagestani officials are in talks with a Russian airline over a charter flight to Dagestan to fly Gadzhi Makhachev's body to his homeland for burial," the source said.
Dagestani police officials said Makhachev had driven the Mercedes which collided head-on with a Chevrolet mini-bus. After the collision, the cars overturned and the mini-bus caught fire. Two people in the mini-bus were killed. Three more cars rammed the damaged vehicles.
The accident occurred on a stretch of road under repair.
Makhachev died in an ambulance.
