Baku-APA. At least three government soldiers were killed and another one wounded in battles with independence- seeking forces in eastern Ukraine over the past day, authorities said Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"The situation in the area has become more complicated," the National Security and Defense Council said in a statement.
During the fighting, which was concentrated around the Donetsk airport and the village of Pisky, the anti-government forces have suffered "heavy losses," the statement said.
The rebel-run Novorossia news agency confirmed that there were casualties among insurgent fighters during the battles near Pisky village, without giving details.
The latest fighting in eastern Ukraine occurred despite efforts made by Kiev and the anti-government leadership to stop the bloody violence and end the standoff, which has killed more than 4,770 people since April.
Late Monday, the two warring sides held a meeting in Donetsk, during which they agreed to sign a deal on a "full truce" in eastern regions in the coming days, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
