Armenia's population decreased by 190 000 people within a decade

APA reports quoting Panarmenian.net that Armenia's population decreased by 190 000 people in 2001-2011.

There were fewer than 2.8 million people in Armenia in October, 2011. This figure was 3 million a decade ago. 42 000 Armenian citizens left the country in 2012 and have not returned.


1.6 million (52 %) women and 1.4 million men are living in Armenia. More than a million people (40%) got secondary education and 500 000 people (20%) higher education.


600 000 people are working. 300 000 people are engaged in agriculture and 89 000 people in other jobs.


1.3 million Armenian citizens are living with their families. Half of the population are married and they have mainly two children.
