Armenia reliable ally of Russia â€“ Lavrov

The ministers held a joint press conference following the 45-minute meeting, APA’s Russia correspondent reported.

Noting that Armenia is a reliable ally of Russia, Lavrov said at the meeting, they discussed the strengthening of military-technical cooperation between the two countries.

Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union will further enhance economic ties between the two countries, Lavrov underlined.

Lavrov also added that Russia will allocate funds to Armenia for extending the operating life of energy block of the Nuclear Power Plant.

“Russia and Armenia signed an intergovernmental agreement for extending the operating life of Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant till 2016. In late 2014, the Russian government granted a $270-million loan to Armenia for 15-year term. It is planned to stark work in 2017,” the Russian FM said.
