“Speaking of sanctions imposed on Russia and perspectives of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Customs Union a few days ago, Armenian Defense Minister Edward Nalbandian had said Armenia’s efforts to join the union are due to the country’s strategic interests. However, today Armenia has already begun feeling the consequences of sanctions of the West before even becoming joining this union. The first evidence for that is the decrease of Russian transfers to Armenia. In the second quarter of 2013, different individuals in Russia had transferred $369.5 mln to Armenia, but this amount was reduced to $364.1 mln in the same period of 2014. And in June 2013, $141 mln had been transferred from Russia to Armenia, while it came down to $134 mln in June 2014”.
