Baku. Anakhanum Idoyatova – APA. Emigration from Armenia has reached a dramatic level and deprives the country of intellectual resources that can give impetus to economic growth, says the report entitled “The decline in the population of Armenia” based on the poll conducted in the country, APA reports quoting Lragir.am.
The report doesn’t contain optimistic indicators. Young people emigrate due to the lack of opportunities for professional growth, as well as a desire to live in communities with a higher level of protection of human rights, democracy and governance. About a third of those surveyed intend to leave the country within 2 years. The main causes of this are centralization and monopolization of the business, the problems related to education and judiciary. Business is controlled by a group of people, who are directly involved in the governance, which leads to an unequal distribution of incomes.
Armenian Deputy Labor and Social Affairs Minister Araik Petrosyan has also admitted that there is a catastrophic poverty level in the country – 35%. He has not denied the highest rate of unemployment and problems with health and regional development spheres. The deputy minister said that population growth is too low.
