During the meeting, the issue of strengthening Ukraine’s defense capability will be discussed although the peaceful resolution of the problem is a priority, the president noted: "At the same time, we will continue intensively strengthening our defense in case the events develop contrary to our desires”.
The president also said he would to raise the issue of the abolition of the law on the special status of the certain regions of Donbass, which entered into force on 18 October.
Note that, separatists held "elections" on the territory under their control on November 2. This step was met with serious objections in Ukraine itself as well as the U.S. and the European Union, while Russia backed the separatists’ action.
