Baku. Anakhahum Hidayatova – APA. Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon have had a telephone conversation to discuss, in particular, Ukrainian settlement, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday. They also discussed issues related to fighting against the Islamic State extremist group, APA reports quoting Kremlin press service. 
 
The sides discussed the Ukrainian crisis, positively assessing the agreements on a general ceasefire in the southeast of the country that were reached at a meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk.
 
Regarding the international efforts to fight Islamic States in the Syrian territory the Russian president said the international community’s actions should be coordinated with Damascus.
 
The Russian side stressed that air strikes on the Islamic State terrorist bases located in the Syrian territory should not be launched without the Syrian government’s consent.
 
“The sides also touched upon the latest developments in Afghanistan, including with the focus on joint efforts to counter the drug threat,” the press service said.
