Baku – APA. CIS countries are facing new elements of threat, said Chief of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan Madat Guliyev.
He made the remarks addressing the 41st meeting of the Council of Heads of the CIS Security and Intelligence Agencies.
Guliyev stressed the need for discussion and common approaches to address them.
“The agenda of today’s meeting covers a wide spectrum of security issues in the CIS area, including the fight against terrorism and religious extremism, and transnational organized crime,” he said. “I hope the issues on the agenda will allow the forum participants to outline ways of further development of relations.”
“The practice of our cooperation once again convinces us that it’s possible to achieve effective results in ensuring security and stability of our countries only through joint efforts and coordination, exchange of experience and information on the fight against modern challenges and threats,” Guliyev said.
The security service chief expressed hope that the event will give an impetus to interaction at both bilateral and multilateral levels in ensuring security and will further promote development of cooperation.
