"We wanted to resolve the issue diplomatically," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after a trilateral meeting, APA's correspondent reports.
Lavrov reminded that they had given suggestions to the US on security: "They told us that Ukraine was ours, we would do what we wanted."
Russian FM has noted that Russia wants demilitarized Ukraine: "We want Ukraine, which is disarmed, is friendly and does not ban the Russian language and culture."
Foreign Minister has stressed that the only wish of the West is putting Ukraine against Russia.
