Russian space agency Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin stated on Saturday that the United States is considering disconnecting Russia from the GPS navigation system as part of the new round of sanctions, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"Do you know that today, within the framework of sanctions, the United States is considering the possibility of disconnecting Russia from GPS? Do you know about this? You don't. But I can tell you that such an issue is being considered," Rogozin noted during a visit to the Rocket and Space Center "Progress."
Still, Rogozin added that this would not have a significant impact on Russia, as the country possesses its own GLONASS global navigation system, to which every smartphone is already connected.
