The press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia has published the text of the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America,” signed in Washington, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
The memorandum includes unconditional support for Armenia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of its internationally recognized borders; investment in Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” project; as well as provisions for improving the country’s infrastructure, border security, and customs services, and enhancing its capacity to serve as an effective transit hub for regional and global trade.
A notable point in the memorandum is the inclusion of measures to strengthen reliable control over Armenia’s existing semiconductor ecosystem and their export. This comes amid the fact that semiconductors, widely used in arms production, are currently being exported to Russia, including via Armenia.
It should be noted that the memorandum enters into force from the date of signing and will remain valid for one year. Unless objected to by either party, cooperation under these memoranda is expected to be extended for an additional three years.
