Taekwondo world champion Emin Chetinbag has been detained on suspicion of fraud as part of a criminal group, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation told TASS, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
It was noted that several former police officers are among those detained.
“The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow are investigating a criminal case against 6 members of a criminal group, including former operatives of one of the police departments and world champion in taekwondo Emin Chetinbag.
They are accused of committing crimes under Articles 286, Part 3, Subparagraphs "a", "g", "e" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official authority) and Article 159, Part 4 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The investigation has brought charges against 5 members of the criminal group and has selected a measure of arrest and detention for them,” the press service of the Investigative Committee reported.
It was also reported that another person has been declared wanted in connection with the criminal case.
