Russia's position on Ukraine does not coincide with Turkey's - Lavrov

"We have a regular and reliable political dialogue with Turkey," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in his speech at the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that contacts between the two countries at various levels have deep symbolic significance: "I remind that today, on March 16, 1921, Soviet Union and the Turkish Grand National Assembly signed the Treaty of Friendship and Brotherhood."

Lavrov stated that the main subject of the meeting with his Turkish counterpart was Ukraine: “If we talk about foreign policy, then the main topic for us today is Ukraine, the settlement of the situation there soon. It is not a secret that our position on the Ukraine issue does not coincide. However, we evaluate Turkiye’s position and have great respect. Turkiye tries to be objective in tasks arising from the current crisis.”
