"Japan is preparing a basis for making new territorial claims against Russia. This directly affects the national security interests of the Russian Federation," the aide to the President of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, told the newspaper Arguments and Facts, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, Tokyo sees two countries, Russia and China, as its enemies.
Patrushev noted that Japan may create its own nuclear arsenal in a few years: "The threat from Tokyo is not in the creation of nuclear weapons, but in revanchism."
