Russian President Vladimir Putin holds a meeting on the situation with wildfires in Russia, APA reports citing Russian media.
He noted that although the total burning area this year is almost three times less than in the past, the fight against natural fires both in Russia and almost throughout the continent is difficult. He noted that 104 forest fires on an area of more than 107,000 hectares are currently being extinguished in 18 regions. The most difficult situation is recorded in the Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov regions, as well as in Komi, Mari El and Yakutia. The president is especially concerned about fires in a five-kilometer zone from settlements in the Ryazan region. Vladimir Putin also asked Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko to visit Russian regions where the situation with fires is difficult and to get acquainted with the situation personally. The news is being added.
