Investigators have detained blogger Arsen Markaryan in the Moscow region in connection with a case of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee, APA reports citing TASS.
"During the joint work of investigators of the capital's Investigative Committee and operational employees of law enforcement agencies, the defendant was detained in the Moscow region," the statement says. In the near future, he will be taken to the investigative department for questioning, the department noted.
According to the Investigative Committee, Markaryan is suspected of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, committed using the media or information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet).
