Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation, APA's Moscow bureau reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
The foreign ministers continued an active exchange of views on regional issues, including assisting in the resolution of the Afghanistan-Pakistan tension through political and diplomatic means.
Discussing the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, the ministers stressed the importance of achieving a lasting peace on a universally recognized international legal basis and the importance of fully integrating existing resolutions on the establishment of a Palestinian state into the ongoing work of the UN Security Council.
The ministers also usefully compared notes on Iran's nuclear program ahead of the opening session of the IAEA Board of Governors.
Lavrov and Araghchi expressed deep satisfaction with the increasing pace of bilateral relations at various levels, emphasizing that this contributes to the further expansion of the Russian-Iranian comprehensive strategic partnership.
