The New Strategic Arms Reductions Treaty (known as the New START) signed by Russia and the US remains the "gold standard" of strategic stability and should be preserved, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said on Saturday at the Schiller Institute Conference, held via video link.
"In fact, the only agreement left today is New START that continues to meet the national interests of Russia and the United States. It is the ‘gold standard for strategic stability which must be preserved," he said.
