Russian President Vladimir Putin's talks with Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa have concluded, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

The talks lasted more than two and a half hours.

A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has begun in Moscow, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

The meeting is taking place at the Kremlin Palace.

During the protocol session, the heads of state delivered speeches.

Putin stated that Russia has always prioritized the interests of the Syrian people in its relations with Syria.

“We have had diplomatic relations for over 80 years. During this time, relations between Syria and Russia have always been marked by exceptional friendship. We have never had any relations with Syria based on political circumstances or special interests. Syria is going through difficult times, but the recent parliamentary elections will strengthen cooperation among all political forces,” the Russian president emphasized.

Ahmed al-Sharaa thanked Putin for the reception. He noted that historical ties connect Russia and Syria.

Al-Sharaa also stated that Syria’s new government intends to restore relations with Russia.
