Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Caspian littoral states (Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan) have great potential for developing energy cooperation during his speech at the 6th Summit of the Caspian littoral states in Ashgabat, APA reports citing Interfax.
"This Caspian Five has great potential for energy cooperation."
The Russian President said that agreements have already been reached on the joint development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea.
” It allows consciously and logically to protect the interests of the parties and to use the natural resources of the Caspian Sea in both traditional and innovative energy sectors, " he said.
According to him, Russia's main goals are to strengthen regional trade and investment ties, and mutually beneficial industrial and high-tech cooperation.
"Russia's trade with the Caspian littoral states is growing steadily. In 2021, trade turnover increased by more than 35%.
Putin said that this figure would increase in January-April this year.
