Russian President Vladimir Putin has nominated Alexander Gutsan for the position of Prosecutor General, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing local media.
65-year-old Gutsan served as Deputy Head of the Federal Bailiff Service from 2005 to 2007, and as Deputy Prosecutor General from 2007 to 2018.
Since 2018, he has been the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Northwest Federal District.
Note that Russia's current Prosecutor General, Igor Krasnov, has been nominated for the position of Chairman of the Supreme Court. Today, the Russian President's proposal to appoint Krasnov as Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has been submitted to the Federation Council.
