Putin and Pezeshkian hold talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, APA’s Russia bureau reports.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek.

Speaking during the protocol part of the meeting, Putin said that Russia stands in solidarity with the Iranian people. He said that Russia admires the courage and resilience demonstrated by Iran in the struggle for its national interests.

Masoud Pezeshkian, for his part, thanked Russia for its position: “You supported us at the UN and other international organizations. We thank you and are grateful to you. Our relations are strategic in nature. We believe and are confident that in this way we can stand against the unilateralism of the United States and all the unjust sanctions it has imposed on us. We can somehow overcome them, and within frameworks such as the SCO and other organizations, we can overcome all unilateralism and thus cooperate at the multilateral level.”
