Renowned Russian sociologist, publicist and philosopher Sergey Georgyevich Kara-Murza has died at the age of 86, Russian press wrote, citing his son Georgy Kara-Murza, APA reports.
It should be noted that Sergey Kara-Murza was a member of the Russian Writers' Union and was known as the author of a number of popular works. His works were widely distributed in the post-Soviet space and had a significant impact on intellectual discussions on politics, culture and identity in Russia. Kara-Murza was known as a harsh critic of Western influence, globalization and the reforms of the 1990s, as well as a supporter of Russia's sovereign development path. He was also the uncle of opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, who is currently known as a foreign agent and is included in the list of terrorists and extremists of the Russian Financial Monitoring Service.
