Armenian Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan proposes to create constitutional and legal grounds for the application of capital punishment in the form of the death penalty for high treason in the republic, local media reported today, September 1, APA reports citing Sputnik.
The Prosecutor General of the Republic addressed the Chairman of the Council of Constitutional Reforms, the Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan with a proposal to discuss, within the framework of the amendments being developed to the Basic Law of Armenia, the issue of determining the constitutional and legal norms that allow the use of the death penalty as a punishment for high treason.
