The Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov has talked about the purpose of Russia in the war in Ukraine, APA reports.
In an interview with SkyNews Dmitry Peskov said that one of the goals of Russia's special operation in Ukraine is to prevent the threat of a third world war, including against NATO countries with nuclear weapons.
"Imagine that Ukraine is a NATO member and attacks Russia to return Crimea. Applying the Article 5 of the NATO Charter, nuclear-weapon Allies will have to defend Ukraine, which could lead to a third world war. "The work being done now protects us from the potential threat of such a war," Peskov said.
Earlier Peskov noted that Mariupol would be liberated from the Ukrainian armed forces.
