The railway is the property of the Republic of Armenia and is only under the control of Russian Railways, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, Armenian media reports.
“We respect the Russian Federation and its interests, but because the Armenian railway is under Russian management, we currently face the risk of missing this historic opportunity for Armenia’s integration into the international railway network. We cannot miss this historic opportunity. We ask our partners in the Russian Federation to be flexible and sell the concession rights to a third country acceptable to both Armenia and Russia,” Pashinyan emphasized.
