The operational scope of the Armenian army is limited only to the internationally recognized sovereign territory of the country, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the joint session of the standing committees of Parliament while discussing the draft state budget for 2026, APA reports.
According to the Prime Minister, the government considers it necessary to replace the concept of a “combat-ready army” with the concept of a “defense-capable army.”
“It is very important for us to replace the term ‘combat-ready army’ with the concept of a ‘defense-capable army’ in our daily working dialogues. Because when we say ‘combat-ready army,’ it does not specify exactly where the fighting will take place. We want to emphasize that the Armenian army should be aimed solely at protecting the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens,” Pashinyan said.
