Pashinyan defeated Armenia in the European Court

The European Court of Human Rights today announced the verdict in the case of Pashinyan v. Armenia., APA reports citing Sputnik Armenia.

The case concerns the applicant's conviction for participating in a protest movement following the February 19, 2008, presidential election.

The ECtHR found the following violations of the European Convention on Human Rights:

Violation of Article 11 - Freedom of assembly and association (Article 11-1 - Freedom of peaceful assembly)

Violation of Article 5 - Right to liberty and security (Article 5-1 - Lawful arrest or detention).

The incumbent Prime Minister of Armenia did not demand monetary compensation from the state.
