Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that after being re-elected in the country's June parliamentary elections and securing a political majority in the legislature, he will initiate the adoption of a new constitution for Armenia in an interview with Armenia TV, APA reports.

"You know, we've never discussed the constitutional issue with Azerbaijan or with any partner, as it's purely our domestic agenda. And we're working from that agenda," Pashinyan said. He also recalled that the adoption of a new constitution has been on the agenda since 2018-2020.

He added that the ruling Civil Contract party's election platform included a provision for adopting a new constitution. "And after the elections and the formation of a political majority in parliament, we will initiate the adoption of a new constitution," the prime minister said, adding that this would be done through a referendum.
