More than 1.5 tons of cocaine were confiscated from a banana-laden vessel arriving from Ecuador at the Port of Saint Petersburg, APA reports, citing the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Public Relations Center.
Based on information from foreign partners, a container on the ship “Cool Emerald” was inspected, revealing 1,500 bricks of cocaine with a total net weight of 1,515 kilograms.
The FSB said the seized drugs are valued at over 20 billion rubles on the black market.
Operations are ongoing to identify and detain those involved in the trafficking of the narcotics.
