If the European Union decides to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats, Russia will inevitably respond accordingly, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department for European Affairs of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told RIA Novosti, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, official Moscow is closely monitoring the situation. "We consider the restriction of the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats as an open act of confrontation," Maslennikov stated.
Note that Politico reported citing the Czech Foreign Minister that within the framework of the 19th sanctions package, the European Union may ban Russian diplomats from freely moving within the Schengen area.
