Nine people injured in Elbrus cable car accident

Nine people were injured as a result of an accident on a cable car on Elbrus, the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Health said, APA reports.

"According to operational data, two people died, nine injured were evacuated. The information is being clarified. The Republican Clinical Hospital is fully prepared to receive the injured," the department reported.

Earlier, the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that several people received injuries of varying severity. The number of victims was not specified.

"According to the investigation, on September 12, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m. [Moscow time], an accident occurred on Mount Elbrus involving a cable car lift and a fall of the suspended chairs onto a rocky surface along with the people inside. As a result of the incident, two people died and several received injuries of varying severity," the department reported.
