Assassination attempt made against Raffi Hovannisian, former presidential candidate going on hunger strike

Baku – APA. Heritage party announced assassination attempt against its leader and former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian, who is continuing hunger strike, APA reports quoting news.am.

The statement released by the party said on Saturday evening, an unknown man, violently crying, rushed toward Hovannisian. The statement claims policemen did not hurry to help, while those present in the square, neutralized the man.

“Furthermore, we call on the police to immediately reveal the identity of the likely killer and to inform the public about all the details of the criminal case to be opened against him,” the party said.

On March 10, Raffi Hovannisian went on hunger strike protesting against the rigged elections. He is going to continue hunger strike till Serzh Sargsyan’s inauguration ceremony – April 9. Serzh Sargsyan has called on Raffi Hovannisian to stop hunger strike. He said that if Hovannisian stops hunger strike, he is ready to discuss the opposition’s proposals together with him.
