Armenia and Azerbaijan are not competitors in foreign trade but can actually complement each other, said Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
Papoyan stated that they have prepared a scientific article on the prospects of trade relations between the two countries, which is expected to be published in a scientific journal soon.
“We have specifically shown that a significant part of the products exported by Azerbaijan corresponds to Armenia’s import needs, while Armenia’s exports meet Azerbaijan’s demands. In other words, we are not competitors — we can sell many goods to each other,” the minister noted.
Papoyan emphasized that mutual trade could lay the foundation for economic cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and if the political conditions allow, this could benefit both countries’ economies.
